"They that go down to the sea in ships, that do business in great waters; these see the works of the Lord, and His wonders in the deep...He raiseth the stormy wind, which lifteth up the waves...they reel to and fro and stagger like drunken sailors!" (psalm 107)

HMAS Curlew, the Model

Rusty's Model

Rusty Russell (Rusty) Ward, then Leading Seaman Underwater Weapons, served in HMAS Curlew
in 1965 and 1966 during the Indonesian Confrontation and this is a model of our ship
HMAS Curlew (sic-1965) which he has lovingly built, scaled down to 48:1.

In 1965/66 Curlew, still a minesweeper, was in the FESR with a twin vickers machine gun in the bow,
twin 2 inch rocket launchers and two single 40/60 bofor mountings.

This is the model of her from that era.

Ton Class models seem to be quite popular and there are several that I have found, however no one has included the stabilizers!
